About Us
Oceanak Development is a boutique real estate investing company based in Fort Worth, TX. Founded in 2007 by two long-time friends, Greg Shannon and Whitney Neal, Oceanak focuses on buying, flipping and selling homes in various Fort Worth neighborhoods.
Pronounced “Oceanic” just like a cruise ship, the name embodies who we are. It is the last name of Greg's grandfather whose grit and dedication allowed him to overcome many challenges in life. He grew up 1 of 8 kids on a farm in New Jersey to parents who immigrated from Russia and never learned English. Life was not easy, nothing was given for free, and everything he wanted had to be earned. Representing a generation and time that unfortunately has nearly past, both Greg and Whitney's grandparents were the quintessential examples of hard work, perseverance, and determination. With every remodel, build, or real estate transaction we strive to maintain these values that keep us grounded and deliver a product we are proud to label with the Oceanak name.
Greg Shannon
Greg Shannon isn’t from Texas, but he got here as fast as he could. Originally from Naples, Florida, Greg’s family called Duluth, Georgia home for most of his childhood until he moved to Macon, Georgia to attend Mercer University. He graduated in 2005 with a Biomedical Engineering Degree and shortly after ended up in the Texas working in the oilfield during the Barnett Shale boom.
It wasn’t soon after moving to the Lone Star State that Greg caught the real estate investing bug. In 2007, Greg and Whitney, two long-time friends, teamed up and started investing in real estate. Through the years, Greg and Whitney have bought, flipped, built and sold many homes all while maintaining the same level of work ethic quality their grandparent's generation would be proud of.
Greg lives in Fort Worth, Texas with his wife, Laura, and dog, Bailey. When he is not working, he enjoys hunting and traveling.

Whitney Neal
Whitney grew up in the west Texas town of Fort Stockton until his family moved to College Station where he graduated from high school. He played golf for two years at Navarro College before transferring to Texas A&M University. At A&M, Whitney graduated with a degree in Landscape Architecture. After working four years as a golf course architect on numerous new courses throughout the Midwest, he switched career paths and entered real estate in Fort Worth.
Whitney teamed up with Greg Shannon in 2007 to form Oceank Holdings, LLC and together, they have built a respectable portfolio of rental houses. In 2017, they formed Oceanak Development, LLC which serves for shorter term real estate investments like new construction and flips.
Whitney has been married for 3 years and has successfully avoided children although his wife reminds him that this will change soon. He is still a full time Realtor with Williams Trew Real Estate Services and an active member of First United Methodist Church in downtown FW. Whitney still enjoys playing golf although his true passion is deer hunting with his friends on his family’s ranch in the hill country.
